Our regular trash and recycling day is Thursdays. All cans should be at the curb before 6 am and set 5 feet apart. If you need to put your trash out earlier than the night before you must secure it with a ratchet strap. The Trash truck driver will remove it. Do not use bungee cords. If you do, your trash will not be collected.
We recommend that you put your trash and recycle to the curb on Wednesday night or before 6 am on Thursday morning since the pick-up occurs early in the morning on Thursday. Some people spray the outside of their trash can with bleach to help keep the animals from making a mess. The trash/recycle containers should be placed with the handles towards your house so that the trucks can pick them up using the metal rods on the other side of the containers. We request that trash and recycle containers should be removed from curbside within 24 hours of trash/recycle pickup.
Curbside recycling
Plastics (not plastic bags), paper/cardboard. metal cans, glass jars, and bottles. For a complete list of acceptable recycling items for Eastern Waste – Eastern Waste Recycling. Wayne County Recycling – appliances, bottles, tires (for a fee), scrap metal, No Electronics except cell phones. During the following holidays, there will be no collection on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Unless otherwise noted, service that falls on the holidays listed below will be completed the following day, and service for subsequent days in the same week will also be completed one day later. If a holiday falls on a regularly closed business day, service for that week will continue as normal.
New Discount
If you wish to rent a dumpster for your private use, Eastern Waste will provide a discount. Please contact the office so we can verify you are a customer with Eastern. New construction will need to call the office so bins can be ordered. If you need containers please contact the office at TWPOA@tinkwig.org or 570-685-7800. Bulk pickup is at the expense of the member.
